K.I.N.G. NYC Monthly Meeting In honor of Black History Month: Washington D.C.'s National Museum of African American History and Culture
As you know, although The K.I.N.G. Movement is a movement that aims to improve the lives of ALL men--we are also very intentional about empowerment in the African American community. It's for that reason we wanted to do something special to celebrate Black History Month as a brotherhood. So for this month's meeting we gonna do it big! We're taking a road trip down to Washington D.C. to see the new National Museum of African American History and Culture (https://nmaahc.si.edu/).! The museum recently opened in 2016 and is the largest museum dedicated to African American History in existence with over 37,000 objects in its collection related to such subjects as community, family, the visual and performing arts, religion, civil rights, slavery, and segregation. We believe knowing our natural history is a vital part of personal identity and development. In addition, viewing our history through the lens of our faith--as men who's highest identity resides in Christ--will help us see the greater purposes that God has for us and His people. We are truly excited--we believe this will be a powerful day of building and inspiration!
**Based on feedback and interest we received from the group, we requested 12 passes for the day. If you plan on coming, please register by 2/20/17 so we can give the museum an accurate count**
We will be leaving NYC at 8am from a meeting point TBD and leaving D.C. at approximately 6pm. We will arrive back in NYC by 9pm.
We will have sometime to walk around D.C. upon arrival. We have not received our reserved time yet from the museum. It will be between 1pm and 3pm. After leaving the museum we'll go out to eat, reflect, and chop it up about our observations & inspiration throughout the day. It's always epic when we come together! #kingmovement #SITL
